Graham Chronofighter Watches And Its Origins
Remembered as the “father of the chronograph”, George Graham also created other things such as the mercury pendulum, the 1st wall clock chronograph and the dead beat cylinder escapement. Nowadays Graham is a contemporary watch brand that dedicates itself to mechanical arts enthusiasts. The combination of Swiss production and a British brand result in what Graham refer to as “wrist machines”.
Graham watches are reworking and rethinking the core meaning of a mechanical sports watch. They are big agressive designs that take inspiration from military timepieces. In just two years since Graham’s imergance they have managed to create two of the most iconic instruments in this new era of watch making. First to arrive was the Graham Chronofighter.
GRAHAM CHRONOFIGHTER Founder and CEO, Eric Loth looked back to the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Particularly at the British RAF bombers who wore similar preceision time keepers strapped to their wrists. In order for the bombs to be dropped precisely it was critical that they were so at accurate, pre-determined intervals. The huge chronos they wore had gigantic trigger mechanisms which allowed them to control the watch with gloved hands.
One of the main features on the Graham Chronofighter is the huge trigger mecanism which when pressed activates the co-axial chronograph pusher that is set in the watch crown. At the top of thee trigger is a push button that will reset the chrono on the watch to zero.
Recently Graham has pushed the boundaries with regards to the high performance materials they are using in the Chronfighter Oversized Commando by using ceramic, carbon fibre and Titanium. The use of ceramic for the clasps is just one example of how materials are important in both quality and the manner in which they are used. To keep the watch lightweight titanium is used for the case. The use of forged carbon for the bezel and steel in the trigger area is to strengthen these much used points.
Graham Swordfish Grillo Alarm GMT This watch has the first optical big date. This is the new model of the Swordfish design that took the watch industry by storm in 2005.
Still keeping the dipping lugs, precisely built case and textured crowns the new design is set apart with its magnifying date eye which in turn leaves room for the alarm and GMT function.
